Emre Sezgin, BBA, MSc, PhD

I am a digital health scientist having experience and expertise in research & development and implementation of multimodal, intelligent, and connected digital health ecosystems for patients and families. My multidisciplinary and collaborative research agenda focuses on improving remote care and patient-generated health data, clinical informatics implementation and integration promoting digital equity and inclusion, understanding digital behavior, and engagement among patient populations. I have experience using health technologies with patient populations, mainly mobile apps, wearables, sensors, and conversational artificial intelligence (AI). Particularly, I am interested in remote care with voice engagement, patient-generated health data (PGHD), and digital health equity. My recent works focus on combining sensor technologies and voice biomarkers, inclusive voice UI design, equitable conversational AI and improving PGHD collection, and integrating electronic medical records (EHR) utilizing AI.

I have been an innovator and co-investigator in several projects which were funded by federal or foundation grants (e.g. NIH, PCORI, HRSA, AHRQ, HIMSS), working with multi-stakeholders including patients, caregivers, hospital administrators, healthcare providers, researchers, and developers. My studies have been published in the leading medical informatics journals, including Nature Digital Medicine, JAMIA, and JMIR, and received recognition by national and international media outlets, including Politico, Wolters Kluwer Health, National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Pediatrics Nationwide, and Association of Health Care Journalists.

Currently, I am working as a Principal Investigator at Nationwide Children's Hospital & Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
